Use a piece of string or twine
Locate the pony's elbow (point on the back of the leg).
Measure three inches above the point of the shoulder to the center line and multiple x 2.
Make sure on mini ponies that your measurement does NOT exceed the widest point of your pony's belly. If it does, go smaller. Anytime your cinch exceeds the widest part of the belly, your saddle will slide regardless of how tight you cinch it.
